  • Client Challenge

Municipalities are increasingly challenged by complex water and wastewater systems that require technical expertise, operational insight, and strategic planning. Limited internal resources, evolving regulatory expectations, aging infrastructure, and staffing pressures can make it difficult to evaluate system performance, resolve issues, or plan for future needs. Without dedicated support, municipalities may struggle with troubleshooting, optimization, regulatory compliance, and making informed decisions around staffing, operations, and capital investments.

Featured Project

Aureus was engaged by a large regional municipality in Ontario to assess staffing needs for a new wastewater treatment plant under construction and to review the operational capacity across several existing facilities. The municipality required defensible staffing recommendations to inform budget planning and ensure readiness ahead of plant commissioning. Aureus conducted a detailed review of current staff resources, analyzed multiple staffing models, and benchmarked against similar municipalities operating complex wastewater systems. The final report provided clear recommendations on staffing levels required to operate the new facility safely and effectively while maintaining performance across the broader service area. The municipality used this analysis to justify staffing increases, support training timelines, and strengthen operational planning for long-term system growth
